Other variants include the three-card brag, which is a gentleman’s game that dates to the early 18th century. It evolved from the Primero, a Spanish game that was adapted by French settlers to the New World. Unlike other card games, bluffing is a primary feature of poker.
Three-card brag is still popular today, especially in the U.K. The main difference between this version and other card games is that it allows a player to raise his or her bet.
In poker, the players can bet with their chips, or with cash. In most games, the player’s chips are easier to keep track of than cash. However, some casinos restrict how much a player can bet and how often. For example, the no-limit variant of Texas Hold’em may allow a player to bet the full betting stack.
